Terms of Service
Draft. These terms are written for a Sri Lankan lawyer's review before launch and may change.
These terms govern the use of Sri Sinharaja (the "Platform"), an online marketplace where authors list books that are printed on demand by independent printing companies and delivered within Sri Lanka. By creating an account or placing an order you agree to them.
1. Who we are
The Platform is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [registration number], [address], Sri Lanka ("we"). Contact: [support email]. (For legal review: confirm entity, registration, and whether the Platform acts as agent for the author or as seller of record; this affects VAT, consumer law and refunds.)
2. Accounts
- You must be 18 or older, or have a guardian's consent, to open an account.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- One person may hold author, customer and printer roles. We may suspend accounts used for fraud, copyright infringement or abuse.
3. Buying books
- Prices are in Sri Lankan rupees and include any tax we are required to charge. Delivery is shown separately before payment.
- Each book is printed after you pay. Orders cannot be cancelled once printing has started, except as set out in the Refunds and Returns Policy.
- Delivery dates are estimates. We will tell you if an order is delayed.
- Payment is processed by a licensed payment gateway. We never see or store your card number.
4. Publishing
Authors agree to the Publishing Agreement, which forms part of these terms.
5. Printing
Printing companies agree to the Printer Agreement, which forms part of these terms.
6. Content and conduct
You may not upload content that is unlawful in Sri Lanka, infringes another person's rights, is defamatory, or is harmful to children. We may remove listings and report unlawful content to the authorities.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any order is limited to the amount paid for that order. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Sri Lankan law, including under the Consumer Affairs Authority Act No. 9 of 2003. (Legal review: confirm permitted limitations.)
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect and why.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email and on the site 14 days before they take effect.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. Disputes are subject to the courts of Colombo, after an attempt to resolve them through support within 30 days.
