Royalty Policy
Draft. These terms are written for a Sri Lankan lawyer's review before launch and may change.
How a royalty is calculated
Per copy: selling price − printing cost − platform fee (20% of the selling price) − payment processing fee (currently 3.4% of the selling price + LKR 50). The exact figures for your book are shown in the pricing step and on each sale line. Delivery charges paid by the customer are not part of the selling price.
When it is earned
A royalty is recorded when the customer's payment is confirmed, and becomes eligible for payout 30 days after the book is delivered (the replacement window).
When it is paid
Monthly, by bank transfer to the account in your settings, once your eligible balance is at least LKR 2,000. A royalty is marked paid only when a bank transfer has been made and its reference recorded.
Refunds and reversals
If a reader is refunded because of a printing defect or a lost, damaged or undelivered parcel, your royalty stays. It is reversed when the reader cancels before printing, when the error is inside your own file, or when the bank reverses the payment (chargeback or fraud). A reversed royalty comes off your unpaid balance, or off future royalties if it was already paid. (Author Publishing Contract clause 6.)
Taxes
Royalties are paid gross. You are responsible for your own income tax. [Legal and accounting review: withholding tax on royalties paid to individuals under the Inland Revenue Act, and VAT treatment of the platform fee.]
Changes
Fee percentages may change with 30 days' notice. Changes never apply to orders already placed.
